Cacaxtla Archaeological Site

How We Got There

We stayed in Puebla which is about a 30 minute drive from Cacaxtla just off Highway 150 towards Mexico City.  From Mexico City the site is about an hour's drive towards Puebla along this highway.

A word of warning - Access to Highway 150 from Mexico City can be a little complicated, so get directions from your hotel.  Since the entrances to this road near the airport are patrolled by the local Mexico City police who are prone to stop tourists for supposed "traffic violations" and ask for large sums of money, avoid asking them for directions.

About the Site

This site has some of the most spectacular frescos of early pre-Columbian culture, the stop is well worthwhile.
