Chicanná Archeological Site

How We Got There

We stayed at the Ramada Inn across the road, the night before and then toured the easily accessible sites near Becán and Xpujil on our way to Chetumal along Highway 186.

About the Site

This site was discovered in 1966, and its name means the House of the Serpent Mouth. There are four temple groups connected by paths through dense jungle growths.  The monster mouth is dominant in several structures, and many have the elaborate roof combs.
