This Sublime
spinoff group has its own unique style, even though they tread on a
lot of the same ground as Sublime. They do the metal/punk thing
with the Cookie
Monster singing for maybe one out of three songs, so they wound
up here in the Punk section. But the lyrics that really got me to buy
their album are the ones from their excursions into grandiose 70's-style
horn rock. A weird combination, but spectacular!
"Flying Ship of Fantasy" by
Long Beach Shortbus
Laughter called
us up into the universal trance
Embracing one another, and love will lead the dance
Angels cater to the whims of anyone needing more
Dandelions 'round ice cream fountains,
Lined up to the door...
We
have no place in Reality's realm
On the flying ship of fantasy, we are captains at the helm
No need for knowledge, man, the tree's already bare
Let's set our spirits free -- vanish in the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
Lord sits laughing,
asking us
To divest what we know
Unclothed before the sunset throne
With nothing left to show
Dripping down from milky clouds
Tranquil waters flow
Leaving us the room we need
To board our ship and go
(Let's go!)
We have no place
in Reality's realm
On the flying ship of fantasy, we are captains at the helm
No need for knowledge, man, the tree's already bare
Let's set our spirits free -- vanish in the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
...In
the air!
...In the air!
... Take off!
We have no place
in Reality's realm
On the flying ship of fantasy, we are captains at the helm
No need for knowledge, man, the tree's already bare
Let's set our spirits free -- vanish in the air!
We have no place
in Reality's realm
On the flying ship of fantasy, we are captains at the helm
No need for knowledge, man, the tree's already bare
Let's set our spirits free -- vanish in the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
...In the air!
