A Reggae Favorite

There`s a lot of Reggae that I like (and I also like it when bands mix Reggae with other styles), however when it comes to lyrics it appears I haven't listened to enough Reggae. Bob Marley was clearly a stellar poet and I could point to a lot of his classic songs as having great lyrics... but c'mon, do you really need me to tell you that? My point, typically, when I discuss music on this website is to get you to try music you might not have heard before. And whose practicioners might still be alive, therefore allowing you some possibility of buying a ticket to see them in person.

So no knock against Bob Marley, who virtually singlehandedly birthed the genre as it is known in America. But instead let's listen to Vegitation, a local San Diego group.

Once again here's a warning: Clicking one of the links below will take you to a page with one or more music clips on them. The file size of the music clip is about 500k (half a Megabyte). A telephone Internet connection might take 5 full minutes to load the 500k clip. Don't panic. But be ready to download some large files.

  • Vegitation reminds us that, even today as we fire up our Pentium-7s and T-1 connections to read about how the Pentagon is developing space-deployable pulsed energy weapons, being human means having "Weakness"
HONORABLE MENTION --
  • I wish I could point people to the website or albums of the old San Francisco group, Dub Nation, but they've been inactive for years now.
