Baked
Brie (a savory lunch or dessert)
Ingredients -- Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian
- 1 brie cheese (round and coated in wax)
- Phyllo dough
- Fruit jam, hopefully keto, such as blackberry
preserves, or unsweetened fig jam. A simple option is
just to cook a handful of stemmed and quartered figs in 1/2
cup of water for 15 minutes (adding water if it solidifies),
and there's your jam.
- Maple Syrup or honey (optional)
- Toasted Nuts
- Butter
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Brush 3-4 full-sized Phyllo dough sheets with hot melted
butter.
Stack the sheets on a baking pan lined with parchment
paper. Place a roughly brie-shaped drizzle of some honey
and/or maple syrup, jam, and toasted nuts in the center of the
sheets. Add some thin slices of extra butter.
Place the brie round over the pile. Fold the Phyllo over
the brie, tuck it together as tightly as possible, and flip it
over. Be sure to drizzle/brush more melted butter on top
if you didn't happen butter both sides of the Phyllo.
Bake until golden, about 15 minutes+.
Serve warm with some kind of keto crackers (such as WASA
crackers), almond flour crackers, or stiff fruit such as
sliced apples. Depending on your taste, certain crudités
may work, such as carrot sticks. Spread some
onto toasted keto bread. Dip
the crackers etc. into the melty brie and enjoy.
