Smoothies
These
Smoothie recipes typically make 1 large serving. Increase
portions if making more than one serving.
Consider adding your favorite protein powder, as appropriate for
the flavor of the smoothie. Consider adding coconut cream
or veg milk in order to thicken them. Consider adding
fennel to some of these smoothies for an unusual flavor.
Consider subbing pitted dates and/or peeled Kiwis instead of
apples (adds fiber & lower glycemic).
Obviously most smoothies are fruit & veg, but I tried to
select a bunch that were savory and/or didn't have a lot of
high-glycemic fruit. In some cases these still wouldn't be
considered Keto because they have too much fruit. Carrots
and tomatoes technically aren't keto either. Use judgment.

can make an easy, healthy smoothie with only
avocado, milk, & condensed milk if you like.

Bunny Brier Smoothie
- 1/2 Yellow Squash
- 2 leaves Kale
- 1 Apple, cored
- 1 stalk Broccoli
- 2 handfuls Spinach
- 3 Carrots
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) taste
Wash all ingredients. Remove stems from
kale. Blend all ingredients.
Cabbage Patch
Smoothie
- 6 leaves Green Cabbage
- 5 leaves Chard
- 3 Carrots
- 1 Apple
- 1-inch (2.5 cm) fresh Ginger
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Peel skin from ginger
and chop into cubes with a knife, so you don't get long fibers
in the blender. Remove stems from kale. Blend all
ingredients.
Cancun Smoothie
- 6 leaves Kale
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 Lime (peeled & seeded)
- Small handful fresh Mint
- 1 Jalapeno Pepper (seeded)
- 3 ribs of Celery (optional)
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Peel lime, remove
seeds from lime & jalapeno. Remove stems from
kale. Chop celery (if using) with a knife, so you don't
get long fibers in the blender. Blend all
ingredients. Optionally top with a little zest from the
line peel.
Caprese Salad
Smoothie
- 3 Plum Tomatoes
- 1 Fennel
- 1 small handful fresh Basil
- 1/2 Lemon (peeled & seeded)
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
- pinch Sea Salt (for garnish)
- splash = 1 tsp (5 ml) Olive Oil
(for garnish)
Wash all ingredients. Peel lemon &
remove seeds. Blend all ingredients except salt &
oil. Reserve salt & oil for garnish, possibly
rimming the glass with salt or Taijin.
Everyday Green
Smoothie
- 6 leaves Kale
- 5 leaves Collared Greens
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 handful Parsley
- 1 Apple (cored)
- 1-inch (or 2.5 cm) fresh Ginger
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Peel skin from ginger
and chop into cubes with a knife, so you don't get long fibers
in the blender. Remove stems from kale. Blend all
ingredients.
Fiesta Smoothie
- 1/2 Jicama (peeled & chopped)
- 1/2 Red Bell Pepper (seeded)
- 1/2 Cucumber
- 1/4 Red Onion
- 1 Orange (peeled & seeded)
- 1 Lime (peeled & seeded)
- Small amount of ice (crush in
blender) to taste
- dash of Cayenne Pepper (garnish on top)
Wash all ingredients. Peel Jicama &
orange & lime. Blend all ingredients except the
Cayenne Pepper; reserve that pepper for garnish on top.
Green Power
Smoothie
- 1 Green Apple, cored
- 2 handfuls Spinach
- 6 leaves Chard
- 1 Cucumber
- 2 Stalks Celery (trimmed & chopped)
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Remove stems from
chard, remove leaves from celery. Chop celery with a
knife, so you don't get long fibers in the blender.
Blend all ingredients.
Alternative: Add one peeled lemon to make green
lemonade!! Sweeten the lemonade with honey, stevia, etc.
Liquid Salad
Smoothie
- 1 Jicama (peeled & roughly diced)
- 4 leaves Romaine lettuce
- 2 handfuls Spinach
- 1 small handful of Tarragon
- 1/2 Lemon (peeled & seeded)
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Peel the lemon &
Jicama. Blend all ingredients.
Mash Up Smoothie
- 1/4 head Red Cabbage
- 1 stalk Celery (trimmed & chopped)
- 1 stalk Broccoli
- 1/2 summer Squash
- 1 kiwi (peeled)
- 1 cup (150 g) red grapes
- 1/2 Apple (cored)
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Peel Kiwi. Chop
celery with a knife, so you don't get long fibers in the
blender. Blend all ingredients.
Mexicali Smoothie
- 2/3 of a medium Pineapple
- 1 ripe Green Apple, cored
- 1 Lime (peeled & seeded)
- 1/2 Jalapeno Pepper (seeded)
- 1 small handful of cilantro (coriander leaves)
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Peel lime, remove rind
& core from pineapple. Blend all ingredients.
Optionally top with a little zest from the lime peel.
Variation: Instead of pineapple & jalapeno, add 2
cucumbers and a Poblano pepper (Seeded).
Red, White
& Blue Smoothie
- 2+1/2 cups (380 g) Watermelon
- 8 leaves Chard (a.k.a. "silverbeet", the
white)
- 1 cup Blueberries
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Remove rind from
watermelon, remove stems from Chard. Blend all
ingredients.
Salad Bowl
Smoothie
- 1/2 head Red Cabbage
- 1 Orange (peeled & seeded)
- 1 Apple (cored)
- 4 leaves Romaine Lettuce
- 1 handful fresh Parsley
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Peel orange.
Blend all ingredients. Optionally, garnish with a bit of
zest from the orange.
Southwest Spike
Smoothie
- 1 Chayote, with skin
- 1 Tomato
- 1 green Apple (cored)
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Blend all ingredients.
Tuscan Summer
Smoothie
- 1 Grapefruit (peeled & seeded)
- 1 Orange (peeled & seeded)
- 1/2 Fennel
- 1 handful Basil
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Remove peels &
seeds. Blend all ingredients.
Virgin Bloody Mary Smoothie
- 4 Tomatoes
- 2 red Bell Peppers (seeded)
- 1 Carrot
- 1 Zucchini
- 1 small Pickle, or dilute the drink with
pickle jar juice
- 2 stalks Celery (trimmed & chopped)
- 1 small handful fresh Parsley
- 1 small handful fresh Oregano
- 1 small handful fresh Basil
- Small amount of ice (crush in
blender) to taste
- pinch Sea Salt (for garnish)
- splash 1 tsp (5 ml) Olive Oil (for garnish)

Green Detox Smoothie
- 1 Grapefruit (peeled & seeded)
- 1 small handful fresh Mint
- 3 stalks Celery (trimmed & chopped)
- 1/2 Fennel
- 1 Lemon (peeled & seeded)
- 1 Apple (cored)
- 5 leaves Kale
- Small amount of ice (crush in blender) to
taste
Wash all ingredients. Remove peels &
seeds. Remove celery leaves & kale stems. Chop
celery with a knife, so you don't get long fibers in the
blender. Blend all ingredients.
